Spring Term 2017 Events Calendar

Date/Time

Event

9th to 13th January

Hedgehogs ONLY

Will be holding a ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’ themed week with lots of activities and opportunities for children to share stories of the adventures they have with their own bears. The children will be having a special Teddy Bear Picnic on the Thursday if your child attends this day; they are invited to bring in their own NAMED teddy bear (we don’t want a lost bear) to join in the celebrations.

30th January to 10th February

Chinese New Year

Over the next couple of weeks the nursery rooms will be celebrating the Chinese New Year. Each room will be holding a range of different activities throughout this time with a special Chinese menu for the day on Friday10th. Please speak to your child’s room about their range of activities they have planned. This important event in the Chinese Year is shared worldwide and we like to also enjoy this event at nursery by learning a little about the Chinese culture and traditions linked to this event.

14th February

Happy Valentine’s Day

Today the nursery will be taking part in a red or pink themed dressing up day. We would also like to invite parents or grandparents to join in with a special Valentine's themed tea party at 3.30pm to come too (if you can let the office know we will include you in our numbers for tea). There will also be a special little present from the children to show how much they love you.

Hedgehogs Parent Forum

Please see the room’s door for a poster closer to the time regarding information of date time, and area they will be covering at their forum evening. We would also like to hear from you if there is anything particular you would like seen covered in any of our forums; parents voice is important to our partnership with parents.

28th February

Shrove Tuesday

Today the children will be served a special tea of, you guessed it, pancakes! The children will also be practising their own skills in their very own, age appropriate, pancake tossing competitions in the rooms.

1st to 3rd March Over the first three days of March each of the rooms will be holding a range of different craft activities sessions for the children to learn about the country we live in and how it is made up from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. We will then be having a special emphasis on each of these over the next few months. As it is St David’s on the 1st March we will be starting with Wales. The children will also be trying some Welsh cuisine on the day. We also invite your child to dress up in green, white or red colours of the flag. We will also be attempting to do create some daffodil free art painting with the children to decorate our entrance area.
6th to 10th March

Rabbits Room ONLY

This week the children and staff will be looking at the different holidays we take with our families and would love for your child to share their experiences. Can we ask for any holiday photos or un-valuable/sentimental mementoes that your child can show off at circle time come into nursery for a special show and tell session each day.

17th March

St. Patrick's Day

Today the rooms will be holding a range of different craft activities sessions extending from our learning about our country by looking at Ireland and having an Irish based menu and taster session. Again we are inviting your child to also dress up as leprechauns and imps so we can go hunting for lucky clover, rainbows and other magical themed things linked to Irish folklore.

24th and 27th March

Mother’s Day- Sunday 26th March

Mother's Day Invititation

Each room would like to invite all the mummies or grandmothers to join their child for a special creative afternoon where you and your child can make a shared memento to keep. We would also love you to stop and share afternoon tea with your child. This Mother's Day event is on either the Friday or the Monday from 3pm onwards. Please confirm with your child’s room if you would like to attend and on which day. There will be a special little present for all our mummies in the nursery even if you cannot attend the event.

3rd to 14th April

Easter celebrations

Over the next 2 weeks the rooms will be taking part in a range of different Easter related activities. The nursery will be holding its Easter Bonnet competition from the week commencing 3rd with winners being announced and picked on 10th. We will also be holding our annual Easter egg hunt on Wed 12th, hopefully in the Forest School and other surrounding outdoor areas. The rooms will put up a poster nearer to the date letting you know where each room's egg hunt will take place.

23rd April

St. George's Day

Today the rooms will be looking at their last part of Great Britain and where we live; the rooms will be holding a range of different craft activities sessions extending from our learning about our country by looking at England and celebrating St. Georges day. We will again be trying traditional English food and maybe slaying a dragon or two whilst making some soup for tea.

Parents Invited Days

If your child attends nursery on these days then this is an opportunity for you to come in to nursery and spend time with your child. We will host these events each term and vary the days of the week so all children and families will have the opportunity to take part.

We also want to extend the invite any new parents who would like to join in with any event published here and want you to know you are all very welcome.

Strong partnerships and effective communication between parents and nursery staff help to ensure children's care and learning needs are very well met.
