Setting the standards...

Established in 1995, Silks Farm Nursery School is undisputedly one of the leading childcare providers in Cambridgeshire.

Based between Somersham and St.Ives, in Cambridgeshire, the nursery school operates from a single-story purpose-built centre, set in seven acres of private grounds.

The Nursery is open from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, and provides excellent care and education for babies and children up to five years of age.

Facilities include an array of toys and equipment, including computers with the latest educational software, providing children with an exposure to ICT from an early age.

Outside there is a large private nature park, a nine hole mini-golf course, two playgrounds, a sports field, childrens flower/vegetable gardens.  In addition, there are car park facilities for more than 50 cars, making easy and safe access for carers and parents to the nursery.

Our full-time chef prepares healthy fully ORGANIC food on a daily basis using quality ingredients.  Meals and snacks are served four times a day.  In instances where your child has a special dietary need, our chef will be advised of your child's requirements and appropriate meals will be provided accordingly.

With a policy of on-going training, our staff are kept up to date with best practice, and are able to develop their career at the nursery.  We are passionate about providing quality care and education for young children.  The care and support your child receives in the early years, shapes the rest of their life!

Recognising that choosing childcare is one of the hardest decisions to make, we endeavour to help you with this process where possible by offering you:

  • Consultation with the Nursery Manager to fully understand both child and parent requirements, and to discuss any potential concerns that you may have
  • Tour of the nursery with an explanation of room actives and our approach to how we meet the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculm as laid down by the Department of Skills and Education.
  • An introduction to the staff and Room Teacher responsible for your child.
  • Familiarisation sessions where you can stay at the nursery and assess for yourself how your child finds nursery life, before you make your decision.  We do not charge for these sessions.

The nursery accepts children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age, and is open 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday all year round, with the exception of bank holidays.

Silks Farm Nursery School is an FA Charter Standard Football School and members of The Wildlife Trust and National Day Nurseries Association.

"Parents speak well of the setting and have conveyed these thoughts through the vast amount of letters and cards that the setting receives".  Ofsted, November '06
