Baby Room

The ratio is one member of staff to three babies/infants.

Our primary aim is to ensure that all babies receive love, plenty of cuddles, have all their basic needs met on demand (e.g. food, sleep and nappy changes) and feel secure.  Secondly, we aim to provide babies with as much environmental stimulation as possible within that loving and comfortable framework.

Care is taken to ensure that the activities are within the ability of each child, are varied and promote all areas of development.

The timetable will include physical activities, tactile stimulation, sensory stimulation, communication, music, free expression with creative activities, intellectual activities, outside play and outings.

The children's development is assessed every three months.  This assessment enables us to detect areas in the child's development that would benefit from further support.  With this in mind activities can be planned accordingly.

All this may sound a little complicated for babies, but remember that it is possible for a six month old child to play in water, sand and to make a mess with paint...and they love it!

"The effective implementation of the 'Birth to three matters' framework ensures babies and toddlers benefit from a wide range of age appropriate activities".  Ofsted, November '06
