| The Silks Strikers football programme was devised by Silks Farm Nursery School, with input from experienced football coaches and guidance from the Huntingdonshire FA. The programme has been running since October '05, and is designed for boys and girls from 3 years of age, and operates from our own sports ground. Each Silks Strikers session is given by an experience qualified FA coach, with support from the nursery staff. |

Sessions are held once or twice a week subject to weather and ground conditions and last for a maximum of 40 minutes. The Silks Strikers programme provides young children with an introduction to basic football skills which includes passing, shooting, dribbling and running with the ball, but will not involve any direct contact with 'other players' such as tackling. These sessions complement the nursery's educational topics (and government Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum), whilst maintaining the emphasis on the children having fun and staying fit.
In September '06 Silks Farm Nursery School received 'The FA Charter Standard for Schools' award from The Football Association. Since then we have further strengthen our football coaching team, and now have four qualified football coaches able to give the Silks Strikers sessions.
