| The French Times programme was specifically created by Silks Farm Nursery School with input from a qualified French Teacher. Launched in October '04, the programme is designed for children of 3 years of age, to learn and absorb French in a fun way. |
| Some French Times session sheets. |
Sessions are held once a week and are 30 minutes in duration and include:
- Singing simple nursery rhymes and songs in French.
- Playing games using French.
- Learning key French words through storytelling.
- Craftwork activities.
At the end of each session, parents/carers receive a session sheet that contains the French words used, phonetic pronunciation and the English translation. So even if a parent does not know any French, they will still be able to discuss the session with their child, helping them correctly pronounce the French words used.
Our French Times programme is designed to complement the government's Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, but is presented in a way that a child may join the programme at anytime during the year, without being at a disadvantage to the other children.
